Airfreight Fuel Surcharges
Increases in global jet fuel prices have led several major air carriers to announce additional increases to their fuel surcharges (FSC). With some exception, these increases come with effective dates during the week beginning March 31st. The FSC is a fee assessed by the airlines to all forwarders.
Due to these recently announced FSC increases by air carriers, Expeditors will increase its fuel surcharge as follows:
From Europe and Africa the fuel surcharge will increase to EUR 0.95/kg or USD 0.95/kg (or the local currency equivalent of the prevailing country), on all air freight shipments to all destinations with effect on April 3rd.
From the Middle East and Indian subcontinent the fuel surcharge will increase to EUR 0.90/kg or USD 0.90/kg (or the local currency equivalent of the prevailing country), on all air freight shipments to all destinations with effect on April 8th.
From North America the fuel surcharge will increase as follows:
- to Europe/Africa, the Middle East and Indian subcontinent the fuel surcharge will increase to USD 0.95/kg effective April 3rd
- to Asia the fuel surcharge will increase to USD 0.90/kg effective April 3rd
As fuel surcharges are regulated by the governments of several countries in Asia, Expeditors provides information on the fuel surcharge levels for exports from Asian origins through a fuel surcharge matrix updated on a weekly basis. Expeditors' customers can obtain a copy of the fuel surcharge matrix by contacting their local Expeditors office. There are increases to fuel surcharges on shipments from Asia at this time, and the changes can be viewed in the weekly matrix.
Unless listed above, the fuel surcharges in other regions remain unchanged.
