USTR Provides Update on Korea, Colombia and Panama FTA's01/12/2012
On January 6, 2012 the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative issued a press release with updates on the implementation of the free trade agreements (FTA) between the United States and South Korea, Colombia and Panama.
According to the announcement the USTR held working-level meetings with Korea on January 9 – 10 in order to discuss each country's respective laws and regulations related to implementation of the U.S.-Korea trade agreement.
The news release also states that the "USTR is continuing to receive and translate materials from Colombia and Panama regarding steps necessary to bring those agreements into force."
In addition, the FTA Tariff Tool available on Export.gov has been updated to include the future changes to tariffs affected by the trade agreements, both for imports and exports. While no effective date is available, the tool lists the planned reductions in duty for each year following implementation.
