DHS 2011 Budget Request Announced

On February 1, 2010, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a press release announcing DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano's budget request for fiscal year 2011.

The budget request aims to strengthen goals in the DHS's five major mission areas, which include enhancing security and securing and managing the Nation's borders (among other things). To enhance both of these mission areas, the budget proposes to strengthen both aviation security programs as well and security efforts along the northern and southern U.S. borders. The budget also supports new technology for enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR) .

According to the release, the budget request aims in part to "[enhance] security across the board," as well as to "continue institutionalizing a new culture of efficiency."
