ILWU Work Stoppage Los Angeles-Long Beach12/02/2011
Contract negotiations between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Office Clerical Workers in Los Angeles-Long Beach broke off this week. The union advised they would be exercising their right to take economic action. As of this afternoon, the union has set up picket lines at various terminals in the Los Angeles and Long Beach area. There are reports terminal activities have stopped in those locations.
An arbitrator has been called in to get the parties back to the negotiating table.
Expeditors is monitoring the situation and will advise further information when it becomes available.
