Next COAC Meeting Scheduled for February

On February 3, 2012 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a Federal Register notice announcing the next meeting of the Commercial Operations Advisory Committee (COAC) will be held on February 21, 2012 and requesting comments on the issues to be considered. The meeting will be open to the public and also available for viewing via a live webcast.

The COAC will meet to review and formulate recommendations on the following issues:
- Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) strategic plan for public release.
- Discussions on the 2012 One U.S. Government at the Border Subcommittee work plan.
- IPR Distribution Chain Management concept.

Updates and discussions on the following CBP Initiatives and Subcommittee meetings will also take place:
- The National Supply Chain Security Strategy.
- The CBP Initiatives of the Customs and Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C–TPAT) program and Beyond the Border (BTB).
- The automation of Ocean and Rail manifest, Cargo Release, and other CBP automation pilots in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).
- Centralization of single transaction bonds and Coordination of bond issues that apply to other subcommittees.
- The evaluation plan regarding Centers of Expertise and Simplified Entry pilot.
- Feedback on previously submitted recommendations regarding ADD/CVD and the Role of the Broker.

The COAC advises the Secretaries of the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on the commercial operations of CBP and other related Department functions. The next meeting will take place in Washington, D.C. and is open to the public. A webcast of the meeting will also be broadcast for those unable to attend in-person.

Comments must be received by February 15, 2012.
